Muang Tam

Muang Tam is one of our favorite sites in Isan. We had been here twice so far because we just love the temple with it's ponds around the inner enclosure. This is a 11th century A.D. temple, which was dedicated to the god Shiva. Depending on the time of the day and the season, the ponds around the sanctuary are filled with lotus flowers. In the March/April time frame this can be a very hot location that is dry and difficult to photograph except in the early morning or late evening hours. A nearby market sells local products and silk from Buriram. For our Thailand Travel Team,  Muang Tam rated the highest on our own scale of temples to see in Thailand :-)
